We arrived in Fes (or Fez), one of Morocco’s imperial cities. We turned in our trusty rental car, that got us through lots of deep water and over very rough terrain. Our riad (traditional house with courtyard in the center) is in the old city, up a very small alley. We took a taxi from the airport to a larger riad and someone came to get us and lead the way, as we would never have found it on our own. It is lovely. Fes is evidently one of the oldest, functioning medieval cities in the world. The medina is quite something, there are about 1000 deadend alleys, it's a real maze! The courtyard of our riad is a peaceful haven after exploring (and getting lost!)
