I’ve enjoyed the street signs in Morocco (very sorry I didn’t get a picture of the camel crossing sign on the way to Erg Chebbi). Most are bilingual, but some, further from large cities, are in Arabic only. Evidently Arabic uses mostly consonants, with vowels being the things that look like dots or accent marks. Most streets do not have any signage and we found some areas where the signs had been all x-ed out, which made driving a little challenging. On the whole, though, the roads were very good, well enough signed and pretty deserted.
I’m sitting in the courtyard of our riad, which luckily has a movable clear roof over it, listening to the rain, enjoying a glass of traditional mint tea, which is sweet and has a whole stalk of fresh mint in it. It’s refreshing in a spearmint chewing gum sort of way, a nice afternoon pick me up.
