The children here are lovely (yes, they’re lovely most everywhere, I know!). In small villages they say, “Madame, madame, un stylo s’il vous plait!” asking for a pen, or a candy or a caramel. At all the washed out roads, there were boys shoveling the debris out of the way and they would ask for a dirham or two and/or some food or treats. We used up a lot of Peter’s kilo of sweets that way! Often they offer to have their picture taken for a dirham or two (1 dirham = 12¢). It’s often children we’ve seen tending flocks of sheep or goats in the country. Along the road of villages, they love to shout bonjour & wave (the people here have been very friendly in general). Even though we’ve been visiting what I’d consider touristy areas, we seem to be a novelty to many (Hannah in particular with her blond hair!)
