We just had probably our most touristy, yet very fun, adventure. We went on a camel trek from auberge Mohayut into the Erg Chebbi Dunes of the Sahara. We trekked on camel back for two hours. The camels weren’t as stinky as I expected, and no spitting. We were seven camels and one Berber guide. The dunes were gorgeous, could see no signs of civilization from our tenting area. We did some dune boarding when we arrived (probably 40 ft high, very steep, didn’t stand, sat on board, much better than Kebo!!) The tent area was really unique, we could see a couple of chaises longues and a solar panel a ways out, turns out that was our place.
Sorry photos are not in order.
Dunes at sunset. Elongating shadows on dunes. Camel group in shadow. Jane in cool blue headgear. Our first Saharan dune.
